Hi I’m FRED Bear!

I’m the cute and cheeky friend that was inspired by the distinctive original painting by Andy Lish (Lishy, my Dad) that traveled all the way from London to New Zealand.

Lishy created me because Cystic Fibrosis NZ needed a proxy for kindness in their CF Awareness Month Campaign, so with a canvas, some paint, and his inspiration, I joined the CF family.

Finding Heather Lyell, my Mum (from D’Lyell Bears) was serendipity. She’s one of the world’s leading Teddy Bear Artists and had heard all about our CF community and how everyone is fighting to get the wonder drug Trikafta funded.

I’ve been uniquely designed from an original pattern and handmade with love right here in New Zealand. I also have a numbered Certificate of Authenticity as there will be limited numbers of me made.

I am excited to join my new family and be cherished as a friend for life. A portion of every FRED Bear goes towards providing practical and emotional support for families.

FRED Bear is made from soft felt and is fully jointed. He is 26cm (10.2”) tall when sitting down and 33.5cm (12.2”) tall with legs fully extended.

As each FRED Bear is lovingly handmade, we can only release a few FRED Bears for sale at a time. Email comms@cfnz.org.nz to be notified when more bears are available.
